Dr. Zeeshan Sheikh, Dip.Dh, BDS, MSc (Queen Mary University of London), PhD (McGill University), M.Perio (Dalhousie University), FRCDC
Dr. Zeeshan Sheikh is a Clinical Scientist and Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in the Departments of Applied Oral Sciences and Dental Clinical Sciences at the Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University. Initially trained as a dental clinician, Dr. Sheikh completed a MSc in Dental and Biomaterials Science from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), followed by a PhD in from McGill University in 2014. Furthermore, from 2015 to 2019, he has completed two Post-Doctoral Fellowships at Mount Sinai Hospital and The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (both at the University of Toronto). From 2019 to 2022, he completed his residency in Periodontics and Implant Surgery from Dalhousie University along with a Masters of Periodontics and he is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC). His research has been published in leading journals in dentistry and he has edited three textbooks on oral biology and dental biomaterials. Furthermore, he has delivered several conference talks, CE courses and presentations, both in Canada and internationally. Overall, he has published 69 research articles and book chapters. He has been cited by nearly 4000 articles and he currently has an h-index of 23 on Google Scholar, making him one of the most prolific researchers in periodontics and implant dentistry globally during the last decade. More recently he has been appointed as the Chair of CADR NCOHR Trainee Development Working Group at Network for Canadian Oral Health Research (NCOHR).
